Washington, Oct 23 : Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has said that he would order a surge of US troops - perhaps 15,000 or more - to Afghanistan as soon as he reached the White House.

"We're confronting an urgent crisis in Afghanistan. It's time to heed the call ... for more troops. That's why I'd send at least two or three additional brigades to Afghanistan," said Obama, the Democratic contender and now clear front-runner to replace George W. Bush.

Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Trading in futures on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Nasdaq 100 Index was limited until U.S. markets open to stop the contracts from extending losses of more than 6 percent today.

Who knows *what* this has more to do with--9/11 or our global "economic ailment". Speaking of ailments, what ever happened to West Nileâ„¢ Virus, SARS, and Bird Flu? I’d never heard of Andrew Lahde until I saw CR’s post on him tonight. He scored AMAZING returns betting against subprime. Below is his farewell letter to investors.

According to Forbes, he closed up shop last month because, he said, “his bank counterparties had gotten too risky to trade with.” Interesting.

I had never seen this guy speak prior to this video -- far from being a "missile struck the Pentagon" obsessive, he appears more interested in pointing out the obvious problems with the official version of Pentagon events. (He may have subsequently become more convinced of a missile.) This is worth checking out even if you don't speak French, just to get a sense of the guy's demeanor.

How can I resist? The fake truth movement is much better scripted than the real one. This is a vid of some convergence that took place emceed by cosmos of truthaction. Invited to the mic are a few seemingly sincere truthers who made the trip down from Seattle, another dude, then a group of Bobs and, finally, San Diego truther and Top Ten Truther Babeâ„¢ Abby accompanied by Loo53 Ch4n63 Wunderkind Dylan Avery!!!!

Surprising that they didn't mention 9/11 Truth! Of course the implication here in case anyone missed it is that black people should support Israel. Because you see, white supremacists hate black people and jewish people equally, and since white supremacists therefore hate Israel, black people should follow Obama's lead and declare undying love and support for the apartheid--er, for the Jewish state.

It possibly hasn't gotten much coverage outside the german mediasphere, but on 10/11, the controversial governor of the austrian state Kärnten, Jörg Haider, died in a car crash. Haider's party, the FPÖ (loosely translated as "freedom party of austria"), recently made gains in the vote and would probably have ended up in the governing coalition, pushing for a EU referendum similar to the one the Irish -- and before them the French and Dutch -- rejected. Haider, while being extremely popular in his homestead of Kärnten, has always been depicted as the, or at least some kind of "new Hitler".

While many different manner of posts are welcome here at WTCD, I would like to humbly ask and encourage people to make an effort to include as often as possible posts that enable us to do more than inform ourselves, i.e. that help us actually get the word out. To that end, please be on the lookout for articles/sites, etc. where we can contribute to a debate or simply add our voices and/or fill in missing gaps to discussions. The right hand column is one place to find such articles but there are surely things that our RSS feeds are going to miss!
