Attack on the U.S.S. Liberty & Israel’s Original Plans for World War III
For significant reasons, which even a casual perusal of this piece will reveal, I decided to publish this part of the U.S.S. Liberty section from “Wired for Terror†Part Four now. In “Wired for Terror†Part Three (now in progress), the central theme is the history of Zionist terrorism directed against the British in Palestine from 1930-1948 by two specific terror groups—Irgun Zvai Leumi (the IZL, pron. “Etzelâ€) and the even more fanatical Lohamei Herut Israel (LeHI, the Stern Gang, or the F.F.I. – ‘Freedom Fighters of Israel’). Part Four of “Wired for Terror†will cover all the major state-sponsored false flag terror operations launched against the U.S., both internationally and domestically, by the state of Israel, beginning with 1954’s “Operation Susannah†(the Lavon Affair) in Egypt. Much of the history presented in this piece before you contains information of high significance and relevance to the current precarious situation that the Middle East, and indeed the whole world, finds itself in, and because this information, to my knowledge, has not hitherto been made available on the internet, I decided to post this information now, rather than later when it may not be possible to do so.
& Israel’s Original Plans for World War III

Nine years after the June 8, 1967 Israeli attack on the American communications ship U.S.S. Liberty, Anthony Pearson, a Middle East reporter who covered the “Six Day War†(June 5-10, 1967), presented his many years of research on the incident in a two-part article entitled “A Conspiracy of Silence,†published in the May and June 1976 issues of Penthouse magazine. This was after having his book on the subject rejected by every American publisher he contacted (surprise, surprise).
Pearson’s two-part article revolved around two questions: 1) Why did the Arabs continue to fight on when their armies were being so badly beaten? And 2) Why did the Israelis viciously attack a military communications vessel belonging to their ally – the United States of America?
After many years of research into the attack on the Liberty, Pearson had come to the conclusion that Israel’s attack on the U.S.S. Liberty was “not an accident but a deliberate, ruthless, well-planned attempt to sink a U.S. spy ship that had uncovered the secret machinations by which Israel helped to prolong the Six-Day War.â€
After presenting the full chronology of Israel’s attack on the Liberty, Pearson then provided some highly interesting background information on the situation in the Middle East as it had been developing since 1965:
“For two years, the CIA had been deeply committed to reshaping events in the Mideast to suit a whole new State Department policy calling for a reduction of Soviet influence in the area, the discouragement of leftist nationalism, and the re-instatement of American influence.
“Richard Helms, the CIA chief, was still pursuing a policy of over ten years’ standing that allowed for all intelligence operations inside Israel to be conducted through Mossad (the Israeli intelligence agency). There was no CIA station chief in Tel Aviv, and officers working under cover in the American Embassy there acted in full consort with officers of Israeli intelligence—each side supposedly having total access to the information of the other. [In reality, however, military and intelligence relations with Israel are, and always have been, a one-way street only.]
“In 1965, after President Nasser had exposed an illegal American arms deal to Israel, James Angleton (head of CIA counter-intelligence), conducted a number of meetings with Mossad officers to decide how and when to get rid of Nasser. It was impossible to overthrow the president within Egypt by any sort of coup. First, his charisma had to be undermined and his popular support destroyed. Nasser’s constant and increasing threats against Israel, and his assurances to his people that the Israeli menace would be defeated, suggested to the CIA that an Egyptian loss of face could be achieved by calling Nasser’s bluff—by actually making him confront Israel.
“At a series of secret meetings in Tel Aviv and Washington between CIA officers, the Israeli General Staff, selected Israeli politicians, and inner members of the Johnson Administration, it was decided to promote a contained war between Israel and Egypt—a war that would not affect the territorial lines between Israel and Syria and Jordan.
“The plan was organized in Israel by a group that included Yigal Allon, Intelligence Chief Meir Amit, Aharon Yariv, head of Army Intelligence, Shimon Peres, Ezer Weizmann, Air Force Chief Mordechai Hod, David Hacohen and Moshe Dayan. Their liaison officer in Washington was Eppy Evron, who dealt directly with Angleton at the CIA and Eugene Rostow at the State Department.
“In principle, they agreed that the situation of an increasing hardline by Nasser combined with the Soviet build-up in Egypt and Syria, should be exploited to rouse maximum public opinion for war, and that the Israeli army should be placed on full alert to induce action by either Damascus or Cairo. In these circumstances, the Kenesset [sic] would have to give its approval for war. And when this war was launched—the Israelis assured the Americans—it would be fought to a pre-designed American plan for containment.â€
[Sure, sure, you can totally trust us. We would never ever use this provoked war for territorial expansion purposes. Wanna buy a bridge, cheap?]
On June 1, 1967 the Israeli Knesset voted in the majority for a pre-emptive war against the Arab states. On the same day, the “hero†of the 1956 Sinai-Suez War, Major General Moshe Dayan, was appointed Minister of Defense.
Anthony Pearson, commenting on the reason the USS Liberty was sent to the Middle East, as well as on the con game being played by Eppy Evron (Israel’s liaison officer in Washington), goes on to explain:
“The joint Israeli-CIA plan for war had aimed for an initial strike date in the second week in June. And the USS Liberty had been dispatched by the CIA to arrive off Sinai before the planned hostilities began—in order to make certain that the Israelis didn’t overstep the objectives of the containment plan.
“Right up to the moment of attack, Eppy Evron was assuring his Washington contacts that Israeli troop movements were simply a precautionary measure against the build-up of Arab troops. Evron believed he could tell the American government anything he liked. He didn’t know about the Liberty and her mission.
“Thus, as war began, the listening devices on the Liberty were tuned to transmissions from both the Arabs and Israelis. With radar monitoring, it was possible to carefully map the movements and positions of troops, armor, and aircraft, showing the true progress of battle. All this information was being transmitted in full to the National Security Agency in Washington. Selected parts were also passed on to the United Nations in New York.â€
ISRAELI COOKING
In the initial installment of his two-part 1976 article “Conspiracy of Silence,†Pearson explains one of the real secrets behind Israel’s success in the 1967 Six-Day War:
“It was clear to the observers on the Liberty that the decoding capabilities of the Arabs had failed to crack Israeli codes. But the Israelis had penetrated Egyptian and Jordanian codes from the moment the war began . . . Somewhere between Amman and Cairo, in a relay station in Sinai, the messages were being blocked by the Israelis, then reconstructed and passed on so swiftly and effectively that there was no apparent break. In the language of intelligence, this type of interference is called ‘cooking’.
“The first batch of these messages transmitted from Cairo advised [Jordanian King] Hussein of a bad military situation on the Egyptian front. The Israelis blocked these and recorded them by misinforming the King that three-quarters of the Israeli Air Force had been destroyed over Cairo and that the 300-plus aircraft he was now picking up on radar approaching Jordan were Egyptian jets raiding targets in Israel...
“Throughout the first day of fighting [June 5], the Israelis continued to cook messages in order to give both sides the impression that the war was going favorably for the Arabs...
“Another group of cooked transmissions on June 6 and 7 falsely informed Hussein that the Egyptians were counter-attacking in Sinai and needed support from Jordan in the form of an attack against the Israeli positions in the Hebron area. To make this attack, Hussein had to withdraw his forces from a planned offensive that had been designed to cut Israel in two [in the Tulkarm-Natanya area, just north of Tel Aviv]. The Egyptians were also misled into believing the Jordanians were making a successful attack in Hebron, and they in turn counter-attacked during the early hours of June 8 and ignored a United Nations call for a cease-fire. The Israelis gained enough time from this to enable them to capture all the Jordanian territory they needed to finish off the Egyptians in Sinai, and to move their troops right up to the east bank of Suez, immobilizing the Canal.â€
ATTACKING THE U.S.S. LIBERTY TO COVER UP ISRAELI EXPANSIONISM
“In Washington, on the evening of June 7, Avraham Harman, the Israeli Ambassador, had been called to the State Department and told by Eugene Rostow that the Israeli attack on Jordan and Egypt had to stop immediately and that no move was to be made against the Syrians on the Golan. A cease-fire was being implemented at the request of the Arabs by the United Nations.
“Harman argued his country was acting against Arab aggression . . . No mention was made by Rostow of the Liberty, but four hours later, in Tel Aviv, orders were passed from the offices of the Minister of Defence [Major General Moshe Dayan] and the Commander of the Air Force [Mordechai Hod] to undertake a surveillance of an American communications ship operating off the Sinai coast. Then, four hours after the surveillance orders, at 1:30 p.m. Tel Aviv time, further orders were issued from the same sources to attack and sink the ship (Israeli officials, however, say that no written orders were ever issued). [Of course, only a complete fool would ever expect a single word of truth to come out of the mouth of an ‘Israeli official’.] Aircraft were called upon to knock out all communications antennae in the first strike. Subsequent strikes would completely immobilize the ship, preparatory to final torpedo hits from MTB’s [motor torpedo boats]. It was imperative that the ship should be destroyed.
“For the Israelis, Liberty was an unknown factor. On June 8, Israel was still three days away from her final objectives. It was possible that drastic measures might have to be taken at any time. The Israeli leaders were afraid that the continued presence of the Liberty off Sinai, monitoring their activities for both the U.S. government and the United Nations, might wreck their plans. If the ship was sunk with all hands, the attack would be blamed on the Egyptians . . . It would also serve the purpose of involving the Americans directly and committing them totally to Israel’s side. [Through this method of staging a ‘false flag’ attack, the Israelis hoped to inspire the U.S. to attack their Egyptian enemy.] It was a daring plan—a vicious plan—but certainly well-coordinated and well-executed. It seems surprising that it failed. Everything seemed stacked against the Liberty.â€
TWO WARNINGS AND A MESSAGE BLOCKED BY ISRAEL OR THEIR SAYANIM INSIDE THE C.I.A.
“An hour before the first Israeli air surveillance, U.S. intelligence reported to the Joint Chiefs of Staff that Israeli monitors had broken into the Liberty’s coding banks, deciphered her codes, and had transmitted a warning to Israel’s military-intelligence headquarters. The Americans were informed that the Israelis were reacting badly and might possibly take some sort of action against the ship.
“The Joint Chiefs of Staff immediately ordered a message transmitted to the Liberty warning her to withdraw to the Sixth Fleet at once. This message was rated by Navy intelligence as pinnacle, which meant that it had the highest priority . . . As the pinnacle message left Washington, it became the first of three remarkable communication errors—if indeed they were errors. The Liberty should have received the message by 9 a.m. ship’s time. She never did...
“Within two hours, a second message to the Liberty was misrouted . . . This one was dispatched by the Sixth Fleet Commander . . . advising McGonagle (the Commander) of his dangerous position and ordering him to withdraw. It was a back-up message to the pinnacle . . . This message was misrouted...
“The third and final message lost in this strange tangle of confused misroutings, left the Liberty for the [U.S.S.] Little Rock via Naples, advising the Sixth Fleet Commander of the extent of the attack then taking place . . . In fact, the only message received that day was the open channel Mayday sent immediately after the coded pinnacle to the Little Rock.
“The Navy has never satisfactorily explained how three messages of such vital importance, rated red-urgent and sent via the pinnacle code route could all have been misrouted. The vague explanation was bad management. Soon after the attack on the Liberty, one naval statement announced that it had taken place because of misplaced communications [cf. the “incompetence†hypothesis re: the 9/11 attacks.] No known official naval enquiry into the communications incident ever took place. In fact, the strangest part of the whole Liberty affair has increasingly seemed the U.S. government’s anxiety to excuse and cover up an attack on one of its own ships.â€(1)
THE U.S. GOVERNMENT – EXTORTED SERVANT OF ISRAEL
In the second part of his article on the Israeli attack against the U.S.S. Liberty, appearing in the June 1976 issue of Penthouse, Anthony Pearson describes the various ways by which the U.S. “government aided and abetted Israel in sweeping the real facts about the Liberty under the carpet†and the way in which “the communications experts on board had discovered that the Israelis were intercepting messages between the Arab leaders and then changing them and retransmitting them—a procedure known as cooking. These cooked messages led King Hussein of Jordan and President Nasser of Egypt to believe that the war was actually going well for the Arabs and encouraged them to continue fighting. This ploy gave Israel the time it needed to consolidate its growing victory. It allowed the Israelis to destroy the confused Arab armies and seize Arab territory.
“What no one knew—except those at the highest levels of the Israeli and American governments—was that Israel was violating a predetermined plan formulated by the CIA, top officials of the Johnson Administration, the Israeli General Staff, and leading Israeli politicians. According to this plan, Israel should have fought a contained war with the Arabs—which would not have affected the territorial lines between Israel and Syria and Jordan. But the Liberty had discovered Israel’s violation of this scheme, and on the evening of June 7, the Israeli Ambassador in Washington was told that the attacks had to stop. Eight hours later, orders were given in Tel Aviv to destroy the ship.
“The attack would have been totally successful. It failed only because a Mayday distress call from the Liberty had reached the Sixth Fleet, six-hundred miles to the northwest. Two flights of four jet fighters were immediately launched to save the ship. The Israelis intercepted the call and pulled back while there was still time to make the only possible excuse—error and mistaken identity.â€
“...On June 10, 1967, they [the Israelis] were masters of Sinai as far as the very eastern banks of the Suez Canal, of the Jordan West Bank, of Jerusalem, and a big chunk of the Syrian Golan Heights. The attack on Syria had been almost as big a shock to the world as was the whole sudden war. It was significant that Liberty was the only neutral voice able to tell the United Nations in New York and the Defence and State Departments in Washington that the Israelis were making moves to conquer the Golan Heights. The transmissions from Liberty exposing the Israeli Golan attack plans could have saved Syria if they had gone through. The Israelis were in violation of a United Nations negotiated cease-fire. [No surprise here, for the Israelis have always had nothing but utter contempt for the international global community as represented by the United Nations.] The attack on the ship, however, stopped communication, and the Israelis had their way.
“The Liberty had been only a small obstacle against a determined Israeli plan for reshaping the Mideast in Israel’s own interests, . . . To achieve their aim, the Israelis were prepared to push aside the restraining arm of their American ally with the same contempt that they felt for the threatening arm of their enemies. America had forbidden the conquest of Jordan. The Liberty attack was the Israeli reply.â€
U.S. RETALIATION CALLED OFF & THE COVER-UP BEGINS
Pearson further reports in his second article on the U.S.S. Liberty incident:
“According to former CIA Patrick McGarvey, who was coordinating intelligence reports from the Joint Chiefs of Staff when the Liberty attack became evident, an order was immediately issued for an air strike against the Israeli torpedo base at Haifa which had launched the torpedo boats. That order was quickly counter-manded by the White House [in which sat the treasonous Lyndon Baines Johnson, a man who participated in the conspiracy to assassinate JFK, and whose wife, “Lady Bird,†being Jewish, held strong Zionist sympathies].â€
“The story had received some publicity immediately after the attack, but there was a strange lack of interest shown in any follow-ups. Jack Anderson, the Washington columnist, raised questions about the Liberty’s role as a spy ship, expressed the opinion that the attack was no accident, and exposed the facts that initial congressional hearings on the matter were totally secret and apparently leak-proof, and that there was a good deal of friction among the representatives concerning the issue. On the Hill, and in the White House, the State Department, the Pentagon, and the intelligence community, the Liberty affair was suddenly shrouded in secrecy. A presidential citation was issued for the ship, and Commander McGonagle was cited for the Medal of Honor. Beyond that necessary routine, there was silence.â€
“One of the most outrageous aspects of this cover-up was the manner in which the American commendations for the ship and McGonagle’s Medal of Honor were submitted to the Israelis. According to a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s staff at the time, the citations were censored by Israel before they were awarded. All reference to the nationality of the attackers was deleted, and McGonagle’s citation read simply jet aircraft and motor torpedo boats. The citation awarded to the ship referred only to foreign jet fighter aircraft and motor torpedo boats.â€
With regards to the U.S. military having to get Israel’s approval for the wording to be used in the citations of heroism passed out to the commander and surviving crew of the U.S.S. Liberty, as well as Israel’s editorial input on those citations, it is significant to note that the same thing happened with the plaque honoring UN Palestine Mediator Count Folke Bernadotte. For those in the New York City area, if you pay a visit to the United Nations building, you will find inside a plaque honouring the memory of Count Folke Bernadotte, who was assassinated in Jerusalem on September 17, 1948 by a five-man Israeli assassination team working for the terrorist group Lohamei Herut Israel (LeHI). The wording on the plaque honouring Bernadotte conveniently omits the Israeli nationality of his assassins.
Anthony Pearson ends part two of his Penthouse article “Conspiracy of Silence†by saying, “But what is most significant is that the United States was unable to expose Israel’s connivances without exposing its own.†He surmises that the whole murderous incident was hushed up by the United States because Israel, as is their extortive habit, threatened to expose the CIA’s destabilization programs directed against radical Arab governments in the 1960s.(2)
ISRAEL’S ORIGINAL PLANS FOR WORLD WAR III
Subsequent to Penthouse magazine’s publishing of Anthony Pearson’s piece on the U.S.S. Liberty Affair, a British publisher agreed to publish the entire book – Conspiracy in Silence: Attack on the USS Liberty. In his book, Pearson reveals some highly significant information which he gathered from an inside, high-level Pentagon source.
While the Liberty sat in international waters off the northern coast of the Egyptian Sinai, it was closely shadowed by the Andrew Jackson, a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine. A Pentagon general informed Pearson that Israel’s plan, if by some chance they lost the Six Day War, was to initiate a much larger conflict by launching a Doomsday attack on the capitals of Egypt, Syria, and Iraq. They planned to drop tactical nuclear missiles—the possession of which the Pentagon was fully aware of in 1967—on the cities of Cairo, Damascus, and Baghdad. This naturally would have brought the Soviet Union into the conflict, essentially igniting World War III, to the advantage of Israel. This general, who by the mid 1970s had retired from the Pentagon, informed Pearson that if Israel attempted to launch its tactical nuclear weapons against the three Arab capitals, it was the task of the Andrew Jackson to take out all Israeli nuclear missile sites in the Negev (Palestine’s southern half). The general told Pearson that he did not believe the Israelis were aware of the U.S. nuclear submarine shadowing the U.S.S. Liberty. The general also suggests that a highly possible reason that the NSA’s messages did not reach the Liberty was that “the close cooperation of the CIA with Israeli intelligence had reached such a peak in 1967 that our whole intelligence network was thick with people involved in that cooperation—not necessarily agents—just guys who were helping along the close cooperation of the Agency and Mossad.†[The Sayanim Factor](3)
In reviewing Pearson’s book in Middle East International, Peter Mansfield concludes his review by writing, “Of course we cannot be certain about this, but there is enough fact and convincing circumstantial evidence in this book to cause the deepest alarm, not only to Americans but to any citizens of the world, about the consequences of the U.S.-Israeli alliance.â€(4)
FINAL SUMMARY: HISTORY IS TRYING TO REPEAT ITSELF
The “deep alarm†regarding “the consequences of the U.S.-Israeli alliance,†which Mansfield speaks of, should be felt to an even greater degree today in the early 21st century, as old Zionist plans and patterns are continually re-emerging from the past.
Although the Israelis like to portray themselves to the world as being the innocent victims of “unexpected†Arab attacks, in reality, the Israelis—from Day One—have been the pre-emptive aggressors in every Middle East conflict they have been involved in. For manipulative public relations purposes, however, they like to play the emotionally useful role of the eternally persecuted victims of the “holocaust,†while essentially doing to the Arabs what the German government once did to them. The only difference being that the Israelis have been doing to the Arabs far worse things than the Germans ever did to the Jews of Europe, and for a much longer period of time (over ten times longer, in fact).
The American military historian Colonel Trevor N. Dupuy explains in his history of the Arab-Israeli wars that the 1967 Six Day War had been very carefully planned since 1965, and that it was a “planned surprise initiation of hostilities.â€(5) This Israeli doctrine of “pre-emptive war†was officially declared as policy before the Israeli Parliament on October 16, 1972 by Prime Minister Golda Meir.
Although the Israelis are still unwilling to admit that they stole nuclear weapons technology from the U.S. and are still unwilling to sign the International Nuclear Non-Proliferation Agreement, in 1967 we see that they were perfectly willing to use tactical nuclear weapons against Arab cities to start a larger conflict which would ultimately benefit Israel by igniting World War III in the Middle East. In this conflict, the U.S., as Israel’s sucker ally, would be forced to take on the Soviets coming to the defense of their Arab allies who had just been nuked by Israel. This entire scenario from the past is significant to the present because it shows that modern Israel’s current eagerness to drop nuclear weapons on Iran has a past precedent. Launching false flag attacks against the U.S. in 1954 and 1967—both which were to be blamed on Egypt—also demonstrates that, ideally, Israel would rather fight its wars via proxy, i.e. have someone else bloody their hands and take the blame for Israel’s war crimes. Someone else pays the price of war while Israel is there to reap the financial and territorial benefits in the end.
In 1967 the U.S. Congress and Senate, the White House, and the Zionist-owned media aided and abetted Israel’s crimes against the American people and their military personnel just as they have done in the cover-up of 9/11 and all the rest of Israel’s numerous false flag attacks against America. It is also of great importance to note in this history that as far back as 1967 the Israelis had already installed sayanim ‘moles’ inside the Pentagon and CIA to serve the interests and plans of the Zionist state.
Israel’s ability in 1967 to access the backdoors of the U.S.S. Liberty’s code banks to disrupt her communications systems is also very similar to Israel’s accessing FAA and Air Force computer systems to disrupt communications during their 9/11 attacks on America in 2001. Israel’s “cooking†of communications during the Six Day War also follows the media’s similar habit of “cooking†the news. The employment of information censorship, violent aggression, and murder to cover up Israel’s war crimes and lying treachery serves the purpose of continually maintaining their façade of always being the “poor, innocent victims†in any given situation.
In the U.S.S. Liberty Affair, we see the exact same patterns of thinking and behaviour then as we do now; all for the achievement of Israel’s goals through bribery, extortion, deception, and murder. And as the old saying goes, “with a ‘special’ friend like Israel, who needs enemies.â€

The CIA has funded individuals and movements across the political spectrum in West Germany. A prime example is Willy Brandt, former chancellor of the Federal Republic, who received much CIA support when he was mayor of West Berlin. Axel Springer, the Christian Democratic-minded press and publishing magnate, who pointed the finger at Brandt for working with CIA, was also a CIA asset, who used his publications to spread CIA propaganda and disinformation. It was a case of the pot calling the kettle black: I knew his case officer quite welL
This is the way the CIA sees its mission, the job it was created to do. The CIA is supposed to be involved with everyone, not merely the Christian Democrats or the Social Democrats. The agency is supposed to have its fingers in every pie, including the Communist one, so that they can all be manipulated in whichever way the U.S. government desires.
An obvious area of disinformation and deception exists in our relationship with a nation often represented as our closest ally, Israel. I have often been asked about the relationship between the CIA and its Israeli counterpart, the Mossad. The CIA maintains some kind of liaison with virtually every foreign intelligence agency, including the KGB. These relationships vary from case to case, but our relationship with the Mossad was always a peculiar one.
When I was in the agency, the Mossad was generally not trusted. There was an unwritten rule that no Jews could work on Israeli or near Eastern matters; it was felt that they could not be totally objective.. There was a split in the agency, however, and Israel was not included in the normal area division, the Near Eastern Division. Instead it was handled as a special account in counterintelligence. The man who handled that account, James Jesus Angleton, was extremely close to the Israelis. I believe that through Angleton the Israelis learned a lot more than they should have and exercised a lot more influence on our activities than they should have.
For his trouble, James Angleton, who died last year, was honored by the Israelis, in the way that the Israelis customarily honor their Gentile helpers. They decided to plant a whole forest for Angleton in the Judean hills, and they put up a handsome plaque in several languages, lionizing Angleton as a great friend of Israel, on a nearby rock. Israeli's intelligence chiefs, past and present, attended the dedication ceremony. Later on, a television reporter of my acquaintance sought out Angleton's memorial during an assignment in Israel. After some difficulty, he was able to locate it, but something seemed odd about it. On closer inspection, Angleton's plaque turned out to be made, not of bronze, but of cardboard. Nor was the setting particularly flattering to Israel's late benefactor: the trees and plaque were at the edge of a garbage dump. My friend's British cameraman put it best "This guy sold out his country for the bloody Israelis, and this is the way they pay him back!"

Aside from my professional life, which lately has been a seven-day a week, 14 hours per day gig over the last two weeks, I have managed to squeeze in a measly hour, or hour and a half per day to work on this USS Liberty piece. The whole time I was working on this—trying very hard to control my emotions and keep the vitriol to an absolute professional minimum—I kept anxiously thinking that I gotta get this up on the Blog so my compadres and compadrettes on the WTCD island can see all of this absolutely must-see information. I found this block of info in a pile of notes and research that I had piled up in order to work on Wired for Terror, Part Three. Between the folders on the “Assassination of Lord Moyne in Cairo†and the “Assassination of Count Folke Bernadotte in Jerusalem,†I saw this USS Liberty folder full of photocopies, handwritten notes, and 8 x 10 coloured glossies with lots of arrows and highlighter markings on the back of each one telling you what each one was. I started reading Anthony Pearson’s article, thinking it was just going to cover the details of the actual attack, as many USS Liberty articles do, and Lo and Behold, I’m reading about the communications cooking, Israel’s plans to nuke Arab cities, traitors like James Angleton, and yet another treasonous U.S. Congress from the past (LBJ should be dropped from the U.S. list of legitimate presidents, imho). I immediately abandoned the other article I was working on for posting here, and thought that all of this highly pertinent and horrific info concerning the events and atmosphere which surrounded the actual attack MUST GO UP ON THE BLOG ASAP. Unfortunately, I had to squeeze it into a very tight schedule. This weekend I will finally have a two-day respite from all the insanity of work and conferences (I need three teaching assistants. Please Lawdy, hep me.).
I have another big article coming out which is just, whew, you gotta see some of these quotes. Just absolutely unbelievable, and most of this stuff is not available on the internets, but buried away in books (at Da universität liberry, otherwise it is $455 per copy on Amazon), so this information really needs to go up on the internet tubes ASAP for easy ‘cut and paste’ dissemination. Folks, we is in big trouble. Now that my research is finally done for Wired for Terror, Part Three, I have articles in me ready for landing and backed up in holding patterns like a rainy Friday night over O’Hare. ATTACK ON USS LIBERTY DEBATED
"The Liberty Incident," by A. Jay Cristol, federal judge
and former naval aviator, contends that the 1967 attack by
Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats on the USS Liberty off
the coast of the Sinai Peninsula was a "tragic mistake"
caused by numerous factors including miscommunication by
both sides.
A furious debate has ensued since the book was published
in June by Brassey's Military. C-Span devoted a half-hour
to the controversy Aug. 22 and the History Channel has also
covered it. WOR Radio in New York aired a program on Aug.
28.
Adding to the focus on the incident is the fact that this
year is its 35th anniversary.
The book (www.thelibertyincident.com) is a counterpart to
"Body of Secrets" (Anchor Books) authored last year by intel-
ligence specialist James Bamford, who said he had new evidence
that Israeli pilots knew they were attacking a U.S. ship.
He wrote that a U.S. intelligence aircraft, flying overhead,
electronically recorded the attack including comments by the
Israeli airmen.
Each side labels the other "absurd" in a debate that has
grown increasingly heated.
One reviewer said that Judge Cristol, who serves in the
southern district of Florida, examined "ten official U.S.
investigations" of the incident that indicate the attack was
the result of a series of blunders by both the U.S. and Israel.
He noted that seven presidents (Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter,
Reagan, Bush and Clinton) accepted that conclusion.
Another reviewer of the Cristol book said the attack took
place during a chaotic operational environment that included the
start of the 1967 war between Israel and several of its neigh-
bors.
Eric Margolis of the TORONTO SUN, in an article found via
www.thehistorychannel.com, theorized that the Liberty learned
Israel was planning a "Pearl Harbor-style attack" on the air
forces of three Arab neighbors that had yet to make any mili-
tary moves against it. This "contradicted" Israel's claim of
being attacked, he said. Israel had long wanted to annex the
West Bank, Jerusalem, Golan and Sinai, he wrote.
BOMBERS ATTACKED AT 2 p.m.
Israeli fighter-bombers attacked the ship at 2 p.m. on June
8 with rockets, napalm and cannon, according to www.liberty.com,
which has numerous materials on the incident.
Torpedo boats attacked 24 minutes later, shelling the Liberty
and sending five torpedoes into it.
The crew abandoned the ship at 3:15. The Israeli warships
then raked the life rafts with machine-gun fire, says the site.
Fighters from a U.S. Sixth Fleet carried nearby were ordered
to the scene but the order was cancelled by the White House, it
claims.
The attack, which lasted about two hours, killed 34 seamen
and wounded 137 others in the crew of 297.
President Johnson initially went on TV and said ten sailors
had been killed in a "six minute accidental" attack.
Disputing Israeli claims that the pilots mistook the Liberty
for an Egyptian horse carrier, "El Quseir," the website contends
the Quseir was one-fourth the size of the Liberty and in any
case had been out of service for years.
The site says Israeli planes checked out the Liberty for hours
during the morning and could easily see a large American flag.
Furthermore, it says, the ship was "festooned" with antennae,
satellite dishes and other electronic gear and had markings in
ten-foot high letters identifying it as a U.S. ship.
The torpedo boats came to within 50 feet of the Liberty, saw
the U.S. sailors, the markings and the flag, said survivors, and
still continued the attack.
President Johnson accepted an apology from Israel that labeled
the incident a "tragic error." Secretary of State Dean Rusk and
Joint Chiefs of Staff head Admiral Thomas Moorer called the
attack deliberate.
The Liberty website contends there has "never been a congress-
ional investigation" of the incident.

Dear Mr. President,
Saturday, June 8, 2002 marks the 35th anniversary of probably
the most shameful day in American history. That day America's
banner and honor was treacherously trashed by our so-called
ally, Israel. Thirty-four Americans were brutally slaughtered,
172 wounded, including myself, and America's most sophisticated
intelligence ship was so badly damaged it had to be scrapped.
Israel deliberately attacked America's virtually unarmed USS
LIBERTY in international waters, knowing full well our identity,
in an assault that lasted as long as the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Above is French-built Nord 2501 Noratlas, the type of plane
that circled the Liberty at low level about every half hour from
6 a.m. to noon on June 8, 1967. The Liberty was attacked at 2
p.m. Israeli documents show the ship was identified as the
Liberty at 7 a.m. at Israel naval h.q. at Haifi and a "wedge"
put on a large "plotting table" to show its location. Jane's
Fighting Ships was used to identify the ship, say the Israel
documents.
On that bright, sunny infamous day, the LIBERTY had a large
American flag flapping in the wind and 10' high I.D. markings
on her hull which were clearly visible during the full six
hours (6:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon) that low flying, slow moving,
propeller recons distinctly marked with Star of Davids
reconnoitered our ship. Overheard radio transmission of the
pilots confirmed that the Israel had positively identified the
LIBERTY as American.
Suddenly at 2:00 p.m., the government of Israel put a knife
in the back of America. In a diabolic attempt at deception, the
Israelis began the attack with unmarked jet fighters using
rockets, cannons, and napalm on our unprotected ship. Then three
motor torpedo boats arrived on the scene and fired 6 torpedoes
at us, one hitting its mark, midship's on the starboard side,
instantly blowing to bits 25 of America's finest young men.
The torpedo gunmen shot at our firefighters and stretcher bear-
ers, using us as target practice, maiming and murdering as many
of America's sons as they could.
The captain ordered us to prepare to abandon ship as the ship
was in grave danger of sinking from a torpedo hit that left a
40' x 40' hole in her. There were only 3 life rafts left that
they hadn't already destroyed. We put them over the side to
put as many wounded in as possible. The torpedo boats machine
gunned the life rafts and sank two of them and took one aboard
their boat -- no survivors were to be taken! Helicopters were
overhead to board our ship with Israeli commandos at the ready
to finish us off.
Responding to a S.O.S. from the LIBERTY, the USS SARATOGA
launched their jets approximately 15 minutes into the vicious
Israeli attack. Within minutes after the launch, incredibly
and inexplicably, Washington shamefully and unconscionably
recalled the jets, abandoning helpless American sailors under
fire, and subjecting them to an additional two hours of barbaric
Israeli bombardment and butchery.
Fortuitously when the Israelis picked up an invalid message
that U.S. help was on the way, Israeli reluctantly was forced
to terminate its ongoing assault. Without that break, I would
not be alive writing this letter.
Ironically help did not arrive until 18 hours after the
attack when it was only 15 minutes away. When an American
rescue ship finally arrived, what they found was shocking, the
LIBERTY was in shambles, death on the water. There were 821
rocket and cannon holes in her hull, thousands of 50 caliber
armor piercing bullets riddling her skin, a tunnel size
torpedo cavity in her broad side, and the residue of napalm
that had been dropped to burn us up. Blood and body parts
were strewn across the deck. A sad, outrageous story, but
unfortunately true.
The crew of the most decorated naval ship in American
history was ordered to remain silent under threat of court
martial, imprisonment or worse, and we all knew what worst
meant. The U.S. government has never challenged the obviously
phony Israeli excuse of "mistaken identity" nor have they
attempted to expose the dishonorable cover up that continues
to date. Truth and America's honor were ignominiously sacri-
ficed to provide cover for Israel's transparent lies and
despicable act of perfidy.
Israel's premeditated, sneak attack on the USS LIBERTY was
a direct attack on America. The disgraceful refusal of
unpatriotic American governmental officials of dubious
allegiance to defend America and come to the aid of brave
Americans under attack can only be characterized as treasonous.
Mr. President, on behalf of the courageous crew of the USS
LIBERTY, dead and alive, I respectfully request that you
commission a presidential panel to finally investigate the
attack and cover-up of the USS LIBERTY, and report the truth
to American people.

I can certainly understand your motivation in writing. The
People of the United States will forever remain in debt to those
crewmen of USS LIBERTY who sacrificed their lives in the service of
their country. In reference to your letter, the main question posed
to the investagative team was whether the attack by the Israeli armed
forces on USS LIBERTY was deliberate. The Navy convened a court of
inquiry immediately after the event to review this question and
address other concerns. Much of the hearings and testimonies were
classified as they dealt with the nature of the Navy's electronics
and communications technology. Large postions of this report have
subsequently been declassified.
Israel accepted responsibility for the attack and made a public
apology for the incident. Additionally, as you already know, the
Government of Israel paid reparations for the death and injuries
suffered by your shipmates on LIBERTY and for the damage to the ship
caused by this tragic and unfortunate incident.
The results of the investigations, and the conciliatory actions
of the Government of Israel, were considered satisfactory to
Administration and Defense officials. At this time, there is no
precedent to reinvestigate this case and no plans have been made to do
so. Please be assured that we have taken measures to prevent an
incident of this tragic nature for occurring in the future.

Dear John,
I have enclosed the Pravda news story regarding the 6 day war. I
believe you will find of particular interest the paragraphs
dealing with the Russian translation of the book "History of the
Mossad" (I cannot find that in the USA but do have a copy) by
Joseph Daichman and the subject of the Soviet Submarine K172 and
its Captain's orders to nuke Israel if the USA enter the
war. Strange, if the USA entered the war. Was that operation
Cyanide or Frontlet 615?
The BBC Documentary, "USS Liberty Dead in the Water" gives five
reasons for a new call for a congressional investigation into
the attack. Especially today as a result of pending current
events.
1) Incontrovertibility, the evidence of the crew and others
involved in the incident lay bare the fact that the attacking
Israeli forces knew their target was an American vessel.
Sadly, the US Administration went to great lengths concealing
evidence and improperly influencing the findings of the naval
court of inquiry.
2) Robert McNamara, the secretary of Defense at this time,
maintains he knows little and has taken no time to find out,
he maintains that an investigation took place. If so he would
have been called and would have known the answers to the
questions asked.
3) Minutes of the 303 Committee meeting which discussed a
project, code named, "Frontlet 615" will confirm that there was a
clandestine operation connected to the attack on the USS
Liberty. Richard Helms, CIA Director at the time, confirms that
the purpose of the 303 committee was to review clandestine
operations and to give cover to the president in case of
failure. The reasons for the 303 committees involvement in
Frontlet 615 will help explain what the administration was so
anxious to conceal.
4) A senior officer of the Israeli Mossad at the time of the six
day war confirms that there was also an operation "Cyanide",
which he can not answer questions about because of "signature"
and loyalty to my country. The film shows the level of convert
involvement of the Johnson administration in the six day
war. Something that hitherto has not been admitted. It illustrates
the fact the Liberty had on board orders for "Operation
Cyanide." What were those orders?
5 )The Mossad has one non-Israeli named in its hall of
honors: CIA operations chief, James Jesus Angleton. Americans need
to know why he was so highly regarded by the Israeli intelligence
community. Americans need to know. Americans need to consider
another Mossad mole, who?
A forthcoming book named "Operation Cyanide" by Peter Hounam,the
researcher on the film, will further elaborate on Frontlet
615, 303 committee and Operation Cyanide. The surviving crewmen
of the USS Liberty, along with the American citizen, deserve
answers to "Why." We need your help and that of your friends to
right this wrong and alert Americans to losing their land.

Q. Well, let's go back to the attack on the Liberty. Could it
have been a tragic accident when the US ship was mistakenly
taken for an Egyptian cargo ship? Was it a deliberate attack?
Provocation? What do you think about it?
A. - Last year, a Russian translation of Joseph Daichman's
"History of the Mossad" was published in Moscow. The author
describes the tragedy in 1967 in detail. He admits that it was
perfectly clear that the Liberty was an American ship and that
the attack was committed to deprive the USA "of its eyes and
ears," of the opportunity to control the situation. Daichman
says the attackers had the right to act so. The Israelis feared
that the Liberty would report information about the course of
the war: they wanted to keep it a secret that troops had been
shifted to Syria and the Egyptian border wasn't protected at
all. The border was quite open for Egyptian soldiers to cross.
Israel knew that American radio signals were intercepted by the
Soviet Union, and the latter would certainly inform Egypt of the
fact. That is why the Liberty was to be sunk to avoid leakage of
important information. This is a very cynical version. I even
couldn't have thought that I would ever read it.
Q. Which version do you prefer?
A. - Both versions don't contradict each other. Both objects
could be pursued at once, and two birds could be killed with one
stone. Israel wanted to stop leakage of information and, at the
same time, established a precedent for US troops to fight
against Arabs. If the Americans landed, the Soviet troops would
also have done the same, and a great stir would have started
then.
The Soviet submarine K-172 under the command of Nikolay
Shashkov armed with missiles and nuclear warheads was at the
very same moment in the Bay of Sidre. The submarine received
instructions to surface and deliver a blow against the Israeli
coast if the Americans landed troops on Syrian shores. The
submarine had eight nuclear missiles on board. However, as we
know the Israeli coast means the whole state of Israel stretched
along the sea. Israel would have been completely destroyed if
such blows were delivered by the Soviet submarine. I wrote about
Nikolay Shashkov; the publication was called "The Man Who Was to
Destroy Israel." The publication produced a strong response from
society. I received inquiries from the Israeli Embassy, and many
journalists wanted just to see the man who was to liquidate the
Israeli state. The K-172 crew had to operate under emergency
conditions; the submariners nearly died of high concentration of
mercury vapor in its compartments. Several people were poisoned
with the vapor, suffered from hallucinations and giddiness, and
no explanation could be found to it. Can you imagine what
submariners suffering from hallucinations could have done with
nuclear warheads? They were to have been immediately sent to
hospitals. However, as the situation in the region was still
tense, the Soviet Navy commander-in-chief asked the submariners
if they would be able to stay in the area for several more
weeks, and the submariners agreed. Even when doctors were sent
to the submarine, they failed to find the cause of
hallucinations and giddiness. Nobody even guessed that was
mercury, and people spent two months in the compartments
poisoned with mercury vapors.

LIBERTY was deliberate, there is a new effort to sell the
"mistaken identity" nonsense.

There is a new but futile attempt to sell the idea of
"mistaken identity" in the Israeli attack on the USS LIBERTY
in 1967. Fortunately it's a flop. The mountain of evidence
that the attack, which killed 32 Americans and injured 172,
was a deliberate attempt to sink the ship and kill everybody
aboard has been covered up by the mainstream media for 35
years.
A. Jay Cristol, a former Navy aviator and federal judge
in Southern Florida, is trying to pedal his book THE LIBERTY
INCIDENT, which tries to argue "mistaken identity" but nobody's
buying. No major publication has reviewed his book since it
was published six weeks ago. His lectures are met with ques-
tions, especially among military personnel, who doubt the
"mistaken identity" argument.
Cristol spent 18 years as an aviator and 20 in the Navy's
Judge Advocate General Corps. He retired as a captain in the
U.S. Navy Reserve.
Cristol argues that Israel thought the LIBERTY was an
Egyption freighter about one-fifth its size, based on silhou-
ettes.
Tito Howard, who produced a documentary, THE LIBERTY
ALLIANCE, got an angry reaction from Cristol when he pointed
out that the attack came on a clear day and silhouettes are
used only at night for identifying ships. (Intercepted Israeli
communications also corroborate the fact that Israel knew who
they were attacking that day.)
"You may know a lot about television but you no know nothing
about ships," Cristol said in avoiding a response.
"The Israeli lobby is scared to death about the LIBERTY
affair," Howard said. He pointed out when Cristol lectured on
his book at the Navy Yard in Washington on Dec. 17, six
officials from the Israeli embassy were there to suppport him.
Yet at least half the questions were from those who doubt
the "mistaken identity" theory and he was forced to acknow-
ledge the views of Adm. Thomas Moorer and other ranking mili-
tary officers.
Cristol had a similar experience the following day when he
took his show to the Mideast Institute in Washington.
The Israeli lobby fears that if Americans become aware
that the attack was deliberate and officials covered it up
they would be so enraged that blank-check aid to Israel would
end.
Such aid amounts to at least $10 billion a year, although
the mainstream media sets the figure at $5.5 billion.

I don't care how they tried to get out of it." Officially, the Navy exonerated Israel on June 18, 1967 - 10 days after the attack - when the Navy court of inquiry found that available evidence indicated the attack was a case of mistaken identity. THE COURT OF INQUIRY Boston said Kidd told him he believed the attack was deliberate and that the Israelis knew the ship was American. That flies in the face of the findings of Kidd's court, and also what the author of a new book on the Liberty says Kidd told him in interviews in the early 1990s. A. Jay Cristol, a federal judge in Florida and retired Navy aviator who also served in the service's Judge Advocate General's Corps, is the author of the upcoming "The Liberty Incident." "Kidd told me an entirely different story," said Cristol, whose new book is dedicated to Kidd, who died in 1999. Cristol said that during one interview with Kidd in December 1990, Kidd related that when he brought the court's report to then-Chief of Naval Operations Adm. David Lamar McDonald, the CNO asked him, "Ike, was it intentional?" "Ike said, 'No, Admiral,'" Cristol recalled. But Boston remembers that when Kidd returned from Washington, he said officials were not interested in hearing the truth. "In military life, you accept the fact that if you're told to shut up, you shut up. We did what we were told," Boston said. He explained that he is willing to talk now because "everyone else is shooting their mouth off." Boston said he does not know whether his beliefs were shared by the other members of the court, Capts. Bert M. Atkinson Jr. and Bernard J. Lauff. Lauff could not be located for comment. Atkinson died in 1999. But Boston's statements do put him now in the camp of retired Adm. Merlin Staring, who as a captain and staff legal officer in London was initially told to review the court's report. Staring said June 3 that the report was taken from him before he finished his review, but based on what he had seen, the evidence did not support the contention that the attack was an accident. Staring concedes he still has not read the entire report. Staring, who went on to become the Navy's top JAG officer, is now part of a newly formed Liberty Alliance, which includes former CNO and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Thomas Moorer and two Marine Medal of Honor recipients, Gen. Ray Davis and Col. Mitchell Paige. The group wants a full congressional investigation into the attack and is lobbying military organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, hoping to garner support among their members, said Tito Howard, the group's executive director. SURVIVORS ALLEGE CONSPIRACY Many Liberty survivors and their supporters long have maintained that the attack was deliberate and that the Kidd report excluded testimony from crew members that would have shown that. Boston recalled that testimony was taken from crew members who said the Israelis fired on life rafts when they were put into the water. The court's report includes testimony indicating the shooting of the life rafts was incidental, occurring when the ship was strafed by Israeli jets. Some allege Israel wanted the spy ship sunk to ensure it did not pick up communications showing Israel was planning to seize the Golan Heights from Syria. Others say it was to prevent Liberty from intercepting communications dealing with an alleged Israeli massacre of Egyptian POWs in the Sinai. Some Liberty survivors and supporters claim the U.S. government covered up the incident to avoid a conflict with Israel that could have cost the Johnson administration support among Jewish voters and supporters. Subsequent administrations and Congresses have avoided a thorough airing of the incident for the same reasons, they say. But Cristol says there have been 10 U.S. investigations, ranging from the court of inquiry and the CIA's report to several conducted by House and Senate committees. Five drew no conclusions regarding Israel, according to a list compiled by Cristol, while others accepted that it was an accident. The most recent official look at the incident was in 1991, when the House Armed Services subcommittee on investigations found no evidence to support the Liberty survivors' claim that Israel attacked the ship deliberately. REPORTS AND RECOLLECTIONS The CIA's report, the earliest of those assembled, held open the possibility that the attack was a case of mistaken identity - the finding that the Kidd court went on to make five days later - though it did not present that as a conclusion. In the June 13, 1967, report, the CIA stated that "an overzealous pilot" could have mistaken the Liberty for an Egyptian ship, the El Quesir. Helms, the former CIA director, declined to discuss the incident at length. "I've done all I can. I don't want to spend the rest of my life in court" testifying about the incident, he said. Mike Weeks, a naval aviation writer and amateur historian who studied the official Navy communications that occurred during and after the attack and believes it was an accident, said there is more information on the Liberty still classified and believes the government should release all of it. "Just put it out there and see how it flows," he said. "The bottom line, all this stuff ought to be let loose, for heaven's sake." ___ Bryant Jordan is a staff writer for Marine Corps Times. Sham Naval Court of Inquiry (into the USS Liberty Attack)

The Naval Court of Inquiry was a major event in 1967. And
Ward Boston was a major player in the Court. And now we find
out that the survivors were right, the court was a fraud and
a sham, with the outcome directed by the U.S. government.
I am puzzled why the media does not treat Ward Boston's words
for what they are worth! This is a huge story and should be
in every paper in the country. The USS Liberty attack was
covered up by the U.S. Government!
This is exactly how I feel as well.. Believe me as there definitely is some kind of conspiracy going on in the US media/press regarding the Liberty attack and ongoing cover-up because I contacted all the major press/media establishments (Washington Post, Fox News Channel, Associated Press, CNN, etc.) about that above referenced Navy Times article (with Captain Boston's comments conveying the cover-up), and not one has covered it to my info. We are talking about a 35 year cover-up and documents still clasified at the NSA which could potentially further reveal prrof of such... Look at what James Bamford (with his "Body of Secrets" book has already revealed by getting access to those NSA documents that he was able to get access to as there are others that are still classified (some 35 years later, but why as what are the Israeli and American governments stilling wanting to keep from getting out so many years later?).

`Liberty' attack still a mystery
By DAVID SMYTH
Associated Press
On June 8, 1967, Israeli warplanes and gunboats almost destroyed but did
not sink the USS Liberty.
Even after 35 years, it seems nothing can douse the smoldering dispute
about that attack on the nearly defenseless U.S. intelligence-gathering
vessel. In fact, The Liberty Incident, by A. Jay Cristol, will probably fan
the flames of controversy.
Thirty-four Americans were killed and 172 wounded in the attack. At 69
percent of the crew, it was one of the highest casualty rates ever suffered
by a U.S. Navy vessel.
The focus of the dispute is: Was the attack accidental or intentional?
Israel claimed its forces had mistaken the Liberty for an Egyptian
horse-transport a few miles off the Egyptian coast during the 1967
Arab-Israeli war, and apologized. The Johnson administration accepted the
apology and did not formally challenge the explanation.
However, knowledgeable contemporaries have long claimed the attack was
deliberate. They include, among others, former Secretary of State Dean
Rusk; former CIA Director Richard Helms; former National Security
Administration Director Marshall Carter; one-time presidential advisers
George Ball and Lucius Battle; the Liberty's captain, Cmdr. William
McGonagle; and surviving crew members.
More recently, Capt. Ward Boston, legal counsel to the 1967 naval court of
inquiry presided over by Rear Adm. Isaac Kidd, has spoken up. On June 26,
Boston told a Navy Times reporter he and Kidd believed the Israelis knew
they were attacking an American ship. The court itself, an internal naval
review, did not address the matter of Israeli responsibility.
Curiously, Cristol, whose book is devoted wholeheartedly to the "clear
conclusion" the attack was accidental, there being "no competent evidence
to the contrary," has dedicated his work to Kidd. And he says Kidd told him
he always believed the Israeli attack was accidental. Kidd died in 1999, so
the discrepancy with Boston's statement remains unresolved.
Lt. Cmdr. James Ennes, the Liberty's deck officer during the attack and
author of the book Assault on the Liberty, says Kidd repeatedly encouraged
him to challenge claims of an accident. Cristol apparently interviewed very
few Liberty crew members. He cites no interviews with a dozen who say the
Liberty's life rafts were machine-gunned by the Israeli gunboats, nor with
others who say the Liberty was overflown by an Israeli helicopter filled
with armed men.
Cristol says he was given liberal access to Israeli officials and records,
thanks to Israeli navy friends. He reports an Israeli reconnaissance plane
identified the Liberty as an American ship eight hours before the attack
and Lt. Cmdr. Uri Meretz then specifically identified it as the Liberty. A
marker representing the ship was placed on the plotting table in the war room.
Five hours later - three hours before the attack - the marker was removed,
and this, it is alleged, led to the mistaken assault.
Cristol dismisses various possible motives for an intentional Israeli
attack. One was Israel's need to prevent American foreknowledge of its
impending invasion of Syria's Golan Heights, a move opposed by U.S. policy.
Another was the desire to cover up a massacre of Egyptian prisoners at El
Arish, a few miles from the Liberty.
Members of the Liberty Veterans Association have long complained none of the U.S. investigations was ever convened to discover whether the attack was deliberate. They note that even the initial Navy Court of Inquiry took no testimony from the crew about possible Israeli culpability, leaving that issue to Congress and the State Department, which ignored the question.
John Borne, in an academic study of the Liberty incident, points out that
this is the only peacetime attack on a U.S. Navy vessel that did not have a formal congressional investigation.
According to the Navy Times, a number of U.S. naval officers are requesting a congressional inquiry. Until this demand is met, and until all secret U.S. government files are released, the Liberty question will probably remain unanswered.

Lazlo Toth Banned from SOTT
Was it something Anthony Pearson perhaps mentioned in his long lost, two-part article about the Israeli attack on the U.S.S. Liberty, published in the May and June 1976 issues of Penthouse, that got my account banned at http://www.sott.net?
Yesterday, I decided to share with the readership over at “Signs of the Times†the above-posted information on the incredible circumstances surrounding the attack on the U.S.S. Liberty. I logged in, posted the above piece of writing and research, read through it to see that it had posted correctly and fully, and went out to dinner with friends. Later last night, a friend of mine, using my computer, went to the SOTT Forum to view the article, but all access to even viewing the Forum was completely blocked. I tried to login with my password, but only received the now familiar message which many Real Truthers™ seem to get nowadays: “Sorry Guest, you are BANNED from using this forum.†It seems I am also banned from even re-registering, which I attempted in order to see if “Attack on the U.S.S. Liberty & Israel’s Original Plans for World War III†had been left up on their forum, or Orwellianly taken down and tossed into the furnaces of the Censors at the Ministry of Information.
Perhaps SOTT has been acquired from its previous owners by the ‘you-know-whoozies’ and is now averse to any uncompromising presentation of the hard and cold facts of Israel’s history of multiple false flag attacks against Britain and America. Perhaps, as American politicians keep HINTING at, it is because the ZioNazis are about to launch another operation, bigger, as they once prophesied, than 9/11, and of course, blamed this time on the Tehran chapter of al-Quesadilla – “al-Qaeda of Iran.†I do not know what SOTT’s new editorial situation is over there. I can only say that if I was banned immediately after posting the above article on the Liberty attack and its close analogies with the present, then we are most definitely, exactly right over the primary target, as they say. Otherwise, why all the flack of complete censorship and anti-aircraft guns?
I must say, as a spiritually rational and moral being, that I cannot feel hatred anymore for these beings who spend their lives and short time on this stage hiding truth and promoting lies. I feel only abject pity for their complete blindness and true ignorance in having surrendered their very selves to wickedness for a little temporal bag of shiny rocks (cf. the James Angleton Story).

Her other book on the history of the world seemed a bit whacked though - discussing the role of aliens in human events. I didn't know what to make of her - and the website, as Casseia pointed out, is a mess of newage crap. Why would one go there for the "truth" when all this other bogus stuff is being discussed.
Better to go to Ryan Dawson's site. The guy can't spell but he gets it about the zionist connection.

The headline of my previous comment here was just tongue-in-cheek, in the extreme spirit of sarcastic ‘Gonzo’ journalism. SOTT, however, is definitely one of those New Agey UFO cult sites centered around a cult leader whose last name bears no tolerance for vowels. As the old saying goes, never trust anyone with only consonants in their last name, or anyone under 30. ;)
It was Keenan (if that is his real name) who first turned me on to SOTT, and seeing that it had a rather large European readership, I felt it might be a friendly place to post some of the 9/11 research I was putting together. I felt, despite the kooky, cultish New Agesque UFO material there, and all the Star Wars jazz, that posting “Wired for Terror†at SOTT was worth it in order to get this information to as wide an audience as possible. I understand that the association of 9/11 truth articles with this other stuff falls into the broad category of info in a poisoned well, but I also felt that there was enough of a discerning, visiting readership over there who would be able to gather real political and historical knowledge, and separate it from the New Age, NWO-sponsored crap. I am concerned about the dissemination of real political and historical knowledge to all, through any vehicle or medium, and there were definitely readers over there who received the benefit of the information which we find daily here at WTCD. Posting over there also had as its other goal the bringing of people to WTCD. Whether this worked or not, I have no way of knowing.
I would like to think that Laura Rdczkysck’s deleting of all the USS Liberty information and its relationship to current events and patterns that I posted at SOTT was done out of personal spite for me, rather than her being a conscious censorship tool for the powers of ZioNazism. SOTT, because of a large defamation lawsuit they are fighting against a New Age pedophile guru in Oregon, seems to have become very timid about putting anything controversially hot up on their site. My article (published here) on the Zeitgeist/Acharya S fraud, which I posted there a few months ago, engendered charges of blasphemy and flaming outrage from one of Acharya S’s dimwitted disciples, and Laura R. then showed her NWO colours, ending up actually taking the side of Acharya S after my article was taken down, put back up by popular demand, and then taken down again. So my guess is that Laura R. fears that the controversial nature of my writing and the topics I choose to deal with may possibly bring more lawsuits against SOTT, or she may also dislike that I am virulently anti-New Age cult gurus (of which she is also one), or that SOTT (as it appears to be from the very vanilla content they are now featuring) is indeed under “new management,†or at least is under a new editorial policy where 9/11 truth is only to be associated with UFO-Sitchin-Von-Daniken-Raelian nonsense. I’ll bet you $1,000 though that if I posted an article such as “ Born of a Whore: The Fraud that was Jesus,†it would get front page coverage with little, animated blinking lights and arrows around it. At any rate, I am done with these fools. The more you try to help and educate, the more you get shit on (cf. the Jesus story, etc.). G-d Bless Real Truther and all his friends (including those Mossad “honey pots†– Katie, EV, and Ms. C455).

that little trick is getting very old by this point--make a name for yourself as a source of truth and then make a fool of yourself and anyone who has recommended you to friends.
today I gave away my copy of David Griffin's new book to a German high school teacher who told me that he showed his class a Jimmy Walter film (Reopen 9/11 or something) and that his class had mixed reactions thinking that WTC7 was solid info but that some other parts (lord knows--I didn't ask) weren't so convincing. I also gave him a stack of architects and engineers cards and recommended ae911truth as a much better alternative to anything with Jimmy Walter's fingerprints...
