Who Cares About Destroyed CIA Tapes?
Suppose you wanted people to think something was true, but you had no good, believable evidence for it. What if you pretended you had evidence, and then pretended to destroy that evidence? Wouldn't people then fall right into your trap, assuming that you had destroyed it precisely because it contained evidence of something? And then you could have your surrogates argue about what that evidence MIGHT have been?
With the case of the CIA tapes we have two parallel allegations. One is that the tapes contained proof of abusive "torture" methods of interrogation used on "al Qaeda militants". This is the mainstream view. Two, you have those who will claim that what was important about the tapes was not the evidence of abuse, but the content of the interrogations. Let the speculation fly now, as to whether the evil arab muslims being interrogated were actually fingering their bosses in the whole 9/11 scheme as being Saudis and/or Patsystanis. What a boon to the LIHOP crew!
Of course it's entirely possible that some evil arab muslims were tortured so as to make them "confess" to plotting 9/11 - that seems to be how they got most of the material or the Omission Report, from KSM (though no proof exists that KSM was in fact interrogated for the answers, i.e. that the CIA did not simply return the Omission's questions with their own answers which they falsely attributed to KSM, so with the videos of these other patsies now "destroyed" there is no evidence that whatever info was gleaned from them was in fact actually gleaned from them and not also made up...)
Round and round they go on the LIHOP carousel! Never needing to explain precisely what any of these evil arab muslims had to do with the murder of 2150 people inside of buildings secretly rigged for demolition...

Khalid Shaykh Muhammed, and Ramzi bin al-Shib went something like this – “Hey why are you guys arresting me and holding me? I work for ISI. I’ve been working for you guys on that fake terror group thing all along, goddammit, and I still haven’t received my last paycheck from Hayden. Hey, what are you gonna do with those battery cables?†Such taped conversations would not play well alongside the OCT.
From articles I’ve read, there has been a lot of speculation that Musharraf uses the old “we’re fighting al-Qaeda†to round up and arrest troublemakers within the ISI and other sections of the government, and then he turns them over to American intelligence as “al-Qaeda operatives†to basically get rid of them. Many of the Guantanamo folks are in this category. They weren’t picked up on the battlefield in Afghanistan as “enemy combatants.†They were picked off the streets of Lahore and Karachi. I believe he gets 100 bonus points per head, and so many points equals a Mercedes 450SL, a complete Barry Manilow CD catalogue, or an all-expenses paid trip to a Sandals resort in Maui.
All of this bullshit regarding a CIA-fabricated, non-existent al-Qaeda terror organization is getting a bit tiresome, especially so when we now find out that many of the mosques blown up in Iraq were not done by “al-Qaeda-in-Iraq†but by British and U.S. Special Forces dressed as Arabs. No self-respecting Islamic jihadi group would name themselves after the colloquial Arabic slang for toilet bowl – “the base,†“the pot,†the “qaeda,†which is more accurately transliterated in proper Arabic as qa’ada -- the letter qaaf + the letter ‘ayn + the letter daal. If you have access to a university library, just go and take a look at pages 912-13 in The Hans Wehr Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic edited by J.M. Cowan, published in 1994 by Spoken Language Services, Inc. out of Ithaca, NY. The words are listed in both Arabic script and English transliteration. There you will find that qa’ada comes from the root qu’ud meaning “to sit down, take a seat; to sit, be sitting; to remain seated, etc.†The word also means “buttocks or posterior, glued to the seat, lazy, inert, etc,†and qa’id can also refer to “shirkers of military service in times of war,†the combat sitter outers, if you will. To be fair, however, to the CIA guys who came up with the name, there is an entry under qa’ida, pl. qawa’id meaning “foundation, groundwork, base, chassis, etc,†or qa’idi, meaning “basic,†as in basic bullshit.
Seriously though, good analysis Gretavo on the CIA video destruction sleight of hand thing. There seems to be no end to the deception these “people†will engage in. What pathetic lives they lead – lying and deceiving and committing national treason 24/7, 365 a year, every year. They are like the David Byrne character in that Talking Heads song “Life During Wartime†– “...got forty passports and twenty visas, don’t even know my own name.â€
