9/11 Judge Again Downplays Remaining Families' Discovery

It has just got to stop - or start. Over 50 percent of Americans in the lastest Zogby poll seem to want another probe of 9/11. A civil society can't just "move on" to "closure" when its most powerful authorities seem bent on skipping past the part that explains what actually happened.

First, the government compensated many of the 9/11 families without anything resembling a civil trial - which would have generated sufficient "discovery" (in the legal sense) without a 9/11 Commission, and all the further questions its report raised. Now a judge seems to be doing everything he can to prevent any legal discovery at all into 9/11 by the few, remaining families who are determined to seek "truth" rather than settlements. The judge admitted his point of view was "crass" but something seems to be going on beyond mere crassness. See story below.

Some of the 41 families who refused 9/11 compensation to press lawsuits against airlines are furious at remarks by the presiding judge, who hopes they will give up their day in court - if the price is right. Manhattan federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein says the die-hard 9/11 families should settle for cash and move on. "Money is the universal lubricant," Hellerstein said, admitting his comments were "crass."

The “money as lubricant†idea held by Alvin K. Goingtohellastein is, unfortunately, a historically long-held concept, reflecting the generic consciousness of the conscience-free bureaucrat. I do not have the time, but someone needs to do some serious dossier research into Mr. Lubey here. He is definitely a POI or “person-of-interest†in this case.
