Weekend Truthing Exceeds Expectations

Yesterday, Saturday, I spent 7 hours in Harvard Square manning the billboard station that you all have seen in the video I posted recently. The response on this beautiful day teeming with foot traffic was nothing short of breathtaking.

I had a stack of about a hundred 11 Remarkable Facts flyers that disappeared after a few hours without me actually offering them to anyone other than having a little sign next to the pile saying "please take a flyer!"

I had the audio of the David Ray Griffin talk from Vancouver last May playing on loop with a sign explaining who what where so that in addition to reading the material on the boards people could hear Griffin's reassuring voice of reason.

I had a number of great conversations, including a lady and her husband who appeared to be Pakistani thanking me profusely for doing this, and insisting on taking a picture with me. Responses like that, including their blessings, are one of the best rewards of truthing in public.

There were of course a handful of haters throughout the day, but mostly of the "walk by and say something stupid without stopping" variety.

Probably the most odd encounters were those with two separate Israeli couples, one older, attending a wedding at Harvard and the other a younger couple with a baby in a stroller. Both couples were exceedingly polite and I felt no hesitation in including the fact that rogue Israeli elements may have been involved, which they claimed not to believe (never heard of the dancing Israelis, for example) and while the older couple was in a bit of a rush and didn't come back as they said they would try to do, the husband of the younger couple said that if I was going to talk about Israel I should visit there, for like a week or two. I didn't say so, of course, but I would be very hesitant to do so, despite knowing that I would (if not abducted by Mossad!) probably have a lovely time and meet some very nice people.

Unfortunately I got the impression that, if these folks were typical of Israeli opinion, that there is a bit of defiance in their attitude towards potential wrongdoing by their government or intelligence services. Given the history of Pollard, Franklin, AIPAC, etc. I think they would be better off beginning to open their minds on this score and prepare, if necessary to accept responsibility for opposing the corruption within their borders as so many of us here in the US have been doing. Above all, I assured them, we were interested in justice, truth, and reconciliation of all peoples and the elimination of secrecy and corruption that serves to divide common people at the will of the powerful.

All in all it was truly amazing to see how many people were stopping to read the boards and take flyers. It seemed like every five minutes we had a new group of 7 or 8 people (about the max that can reasonably be accommodated by the boards) checking the stuff out. Easily I would figure that around 400 people that day learned more about 9/11 than they probably ever had. It was really uplifting and I think I can say with great confidence that we are about to experience a big upsurge soon in public awareness!

Good for you. It was nice to

Good for you. It was nice to read about how you are working to make a change. Can I have a copy of your flyer? I'd like to surreptitiously distribute them and/or leave them in judicious spots.

p.s. Kate, I hear you on the family obligations. Could you put a "9/11 truth" sign on your stroller/wagon when on a walk, at the zoo, etc.
