Hat tip to Victronix at Apt. 9/11B for the heads up.  If indeed Cindy runs as a Green, I will absolutely vote for her...  Cindy M/Cindy S in 2008?  Yeah, I could dig that...  McKinney/Sheehan 2008...  The REAL "MS. PRESIDENT" TICKET!

At least in the statements

At least in the statements from her which I've seen, McKinney came across as LIHOP. Not that I think one refuse to vote for a candidate over the LIHOP/MIHOP issue alone, but I'd certainly never vote for a Democrat. The Greens have established their record as a group which seeks to pressure the Democrats ala Nader, rather than building a truly independent party. I wouldn't vote for that either. In fact McKinney fell down badly at the start:

She voted for the post-September 11 resolution that authorized Bush to take military action in Afghanistan

Ugh. Even before I began thinking anything about LIHOP/MIHOP and the like, on the first day the basic Blowback perspective was enough to tell that any war launched over 911 would be bad.

sigh... you may be right.. I may be crazy (about McKinney)

Agreed, I should be fair here--she doesn't ever talk about demolition as far as I know.  I can forgive her for authorizing the Afghanistan thing, since she was probably under the spell of shock and awe (against us).  But as time goes by, I think we should hold all these folks who want our $$ and votes to the highest standards.  I think she's right on about Uncle O-Tom-a, tho....

It's probably a good idea

It's probably a good idea for everyone to admit from the onset that decisions about whether to vote or abstain, whom to vote for if one is voting at all, are necessarily going to be based upon a wider political perspective than simply 911. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but too often the 911 issue has been used to obfuscate fundamental political differences while steering people into campaigning for other agendas. 911 is not a big enough issue to determine the political dividing lines, and political lines do play the fundamental role in anything which involves a serious approach to elections.

At the present time there really isn't any single political party which I could give total unqualified support to. The mixture of immediate political crises which require aattention now and historical myths from the 20th century which have wound there way into each and every form of political activism creates an odd sort of confusion that won't be untangled easily anytime soon. But that doesn't negate the need to maintain some form of political action even as people may wonder about a bigger picture. To the extent that such immediate political action involves electoral candidates, it's unavoidable that people will be forced to make some partial compromise over one thing or another. But it's also important that people make it clear where and how their choice of what compromise to make is determined by broader political views instead of trying to hustle everything across as "911 truth."

One of my ongoing nightmare visions when people talk too much about "911 truth candidates" is that I picture everyone being dragooned into a campaign around someone like Jack Blood who then gets into office and starts telling us that satellite photos show Vietnam is still holding American prisoners, while 911 quietly slips off the chart. The show I listened to where Blood interviewed an old Reagan-admirer who made these claims about satellite photos and Vietnam POWs reminded me exactly of Colin Powell talking about satellite photos and Iraqi WMDs ready to go off on 45 minutes notice. Those are risks which occur when people get caught up in fooling themselves that 911 is the only issue in an election. A whole different bag of goods can be snookered in under that cover.
