There are several possible interpretations of what this is all about, but at issue I think foremost is the nature of the alleged group "Anonymous".  I say alleged because it is impossible for the public that "Anonymous" addresses to know whether Anonymous represents a genuine bona fide (in good faith) group or merely a brand created to market controlled dissent to the public, i.e. fake truth. 

Have real militant radical groups seized on the new media's anonymity and instant global reach, as one might expect them to do? Or have any number of other agencies (for lack of a better word to describe those who would engage in such action) simply added new media to their list of bases to cover in pursuing some agenda?  Can we guess what agendas might be involved in the story below?

Jerusalem — Hackers threatened to remove all traces of Israel from the Internet and accused it of crimes against humanity on the same day that it crashed the Central Intelligence Agency’s website.

The hacker group Anonymous released a video on YouTube Feb. 10 on which it said that “For too long we have tolerated your crimes against humanity and allowed your sins to go unpunished. The video accused Israel of fomenting “a nuclear Holocaust,” and stated that “we will not allow you to attack a sovereign country based on a campaign of lies,” a reference to the current standoff with Iran over its nuclear capabilities.

The group said in the statement that is has a three-step plan to destroy Israel, which will start with “systematically removing Israel from the Internet.”

The group took credit for taking down the CIA’s public website on Feb. 10. It was up and running again the following day.

The attack reportedly did not access any sensitive information from the government agency.

The threats against Israel come after a month in which Israel and pro-Palestinian hackers have been attacking each other’s websites.

Why if I didn't know better I'd say it sure looked like Israel and the CIA have a common enemy!  But it could also mean that someone is using the Anonymous brand, with or without permission from the real Anonymous, whoever that may be, to give that impression.
