Whoa... I was almost physically assaulted by someone claiming I am COINTELPRO

Sorry if this seems a little too personal, but I can't hook up with any of my real life support people right now.  I just attended a meeting at the local radical bookstore which was to address some of the misbehavior of the 9/11 group that meets there (and to which I used to belong, until they started calling me a cunt and then criticizing the members who called them on it for using the word "cunt" -- a bit Red Queenesque, perhaps?)  Anyway, this group has been getting more and more reactionary and I was there to testify to my experience and this guy whom I've known for a year came in and just hurtled toward me with an avalanche of verbal abuse, up to and including the fact that I am raising my daughter "disgustingly" because I am a paid disruptor.  He was right in my face, and when I moved one chair away, his cohort sat down right next to me.  I said I was uncomfortable with that, and he just wouldn't move, even when instructed to do so by the bookstore staffers running the meeting.  It was crazy.  

 

I'm just shell-shocked right now...

have you considered pressing charges?  all you need is one witness for this asshole to be handed a restraining order and a misdemeanor charge.  i wouldn't take any chances with him.  if he has the nerve to do this to you in front of a group of people, what is he capable of elsewhere?  good luck.

A paid disrupter?  Maybe that's what he himself is - one of the things I learned back in the Scientologists vs the Internet days ('95 or thereabouts) was a tactic of Scientologists is to accuse your targets of what you yourself are guilty of thereby pre-empting any accusation of yourself.  Either that or he's completely batshit crazy.  Maybe I would take Larry's advice and report him to the authorities.
