LONDON (AFP) - A satirical musical about Islamist terrorism and Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has sparked protests in Britain, with critics blasting it as tasteless.

"Jihad: The Musical," which features songs including "I wanna be like Osama" and is described as "a madcap gallop through the wacky world of international terrorism," is on at the Edinburgh Fringe festival this month.

But a petition has been launched on Prime Minister Gordon Brown's Downing Street website.
Petition to: condemn the tasteless portrayal of terrorism and its victims in 'Jihad The Musical.'

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to condemn the tasteless portrayal of terrorism and its victims in 'Jihad The Musical'.
The idea of making light of muslim extremism is extremely offensive, most especially for its victims. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival promotes such 'artistic license' without due consideration for those parties who may be offended by this 'musical.'

The Bin Ladens sing the Jpass USS Liberty song
You can almost see a tap dance number with all of the three Osamas used by IntelCenter in their al-Sahab videos singing Jpass' USS Liberty song in three part harmony. And don't forget to try the popcorn at our snackbar...

It's not kind to make fun of a man recently deceased. Or does 2001 quality as recently? ;)
If Brown's against it, I'm all for it.
I'm for artistic freedom anyway, but if Brown thinks it's 'tastless' there must be something to it.

There were over 8600 of them when I found this piece. Want to start a new petition to Gordon Brown? Have at it. Might be fun!

"Petitions have long been sent to the Prime Minister by post or delivered to the Number 10 door in person. You can now both create and sign petitions on this website too, giving you the opportunity to reach a potentially wider audience and to deliver your petition directly to Downing Street."
