Adding insult to injury

Dropping the espionage charges against the two AIPAC fellows did not seem enough for some. Now there is a demand by AMCHA for an investigation if the case was started due to anti-semitism or anti Israel sentiments.

I wonder if this is a conscious attempt to foment a backlash against Jews. But more likely it is an intimidation so other people won't even get the idea to ever oppose Israeli interests in the US.

Like rubbing a dogs nose in its poop.

Rabbis want answers on AIPAC staffers’ case

By Eric Fingerhut · May 19, 2009

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- More than 150 rabbis signed a letter to the U.S. attorney general seeking an investigation into why criminal charges were brought against two former AIPAC employees.

Organized by AMCHA-The Coalition of Jewish Concerns, the letter to Eric Holder says that the prosecution of Keith Weissman and Steve Rosen on charges of illegally passing classified information "should be reviewed because the handling of this matter has, in the opinion of many, placed a cloud of suspicion on the loyalties of Jews in the United States and raised questions about their patriotism."

The prosecution dropped the case earlier this month.

The letter asks the Justice Department to probe a number of questions surrounding the case, including whether "anti-Semitism and/or anti-Israel sentiments" played any role in the charges. It also asks for "recommendations on how to ensure that a similar unjust prosecution can be avoided in the future."

In addition, the group requests an opportunity to meet with Holder and his leadership team to further explain its concerns.

"The case represents an enormous miscarriage of justice, and should never have been brought in the first place," the letter says.

Signatories include members of the Orthodox, Conservative and Reform movements, including outgoing United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism executive vice president Rabbi Jerome Epstein and outgoing Orthodox Union executive vice president Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, as well as Weinreb's successor, Rabbi Steven Weil.

It's not really clear what

It's not really clear what the analogy with the Dreyfus affair is meant to be. That was a case where an innocent officer was scapegoated for spying which was more likely done by Charles Marie Ferdinand Walsin Esterhazy. Esterhazy retired from the French military in 1898 and moved to Britain to avoid further scandal as the evidence was emerging which incriminated him. How does that compare to anything today involving AIPAC?

Another major difference is that Jewish professionals in France at the time of Dreyfus' arrest simply tried to ignore and forget the case. Dreyfus was arrested in 1894. By 1896 the evidence incriminating Esterhazy was starting to emerge. But it wasn't until 1897 that Lucien Herr managed to convince Leon Blum, Jean Jaures and some other leading Socialists that Dreyfus was innocent. Emile Zola published J'Accuse on 1898. All of these people were slowly won over to supporting the Dreyfus case after initially dismissing it. That's not very much like AIPAC at all.

my point is that Zionists will play this up...

...as The New Dreyfus Affair. In other words, claim that Rosen and Weissman were totally innocent and that anti-semitism was to blame for their being "scapegoated".

Faked suicide to help AIPAC staff in spy case

Two unidentified persons asked convicted Pentagon analyst Lawrence Franklin to fake his death and dissapear to avoid having to testify against two AIPAC staffers in an espionage case that was eventually dropped. AIPAC denies involvement in the witness tampering attempt.

Franklin's sentence was also reduced to probation, further demonstrating how powerless the US is against Israel with its government, media and courts totally co-opted. What a shame.
