This article is doing the rounds on CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and all the other pharma-network news outlets.

Study: Even Infrequent Use of Marijuana Increases Risk of Psychosis by 40 Percent

I'm not going to post the entire thing here, just click the artilce to read it. I wanted to just show you a few paragraphs from the article....

The problem....

1. "The available evidence now suggests that cannabis is not as harmless as many people think,"

then just two sentances later...

2. "The researchers said they couldn't prove that marijuana use itself increases the risk of psychosis"

The solution....

3. "Some experts say governments should now work to dispel the misconception that marijuana is a benign drug."

4. "Many expect marijuana will be bumped up to a class "B" category, with offenses likely to lead to arrests or longer jail sentences."

And the kicker...

5. "Two of the authors of the study were invited experts on the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs Cannabis Review in 2005. Several authors reported being paid to attend drug company-sponsored meetings related to marijuana, and one received consulting fees from companies that make antipsychotic medications."

reefer madness revisited

never mind that alcohol abuse kills far more people than marijuana ever has. never mind that tobacco is more addictive than heroin. never mind that drinking alcohol tends to make people fight and marijuana tends to make people eat, sleep, play the drums in a circle with peaceful hippie types, and join antiwar rallies...

yeah yeah yeah. what's next I wonder--a study linking pot smoking to holocaust denial? ;)

Contradictions Everywhere

Just another part of the doom & gloom fear machine in action.

With the vast number of societal contradictions...it's no wonder Western populations are flocking to the pharma-networks to get the latest snake oil cure all for "---insert broadly defined symptom of the human condition here---

Drinking bleach can kill you...but that isn't illegal. We live

"what's next I wonder--a study linking pot smoking to holocaust denial? ;)v"

Heheh

The fucked up thing is that I've shown this to 10 people today and they all said, basically, the same thing you have. So how the hell does the gestapo slide through anti-drug legislation based on science that, even if it's true, most people (i talk to) don't fuckin' care?

Jeez...we have lots of work to do.

Now if you're Al Gore -- the Third, that is...

DRIVING while using drugs is certainly not OK, nor is it a good thing generally to be using four different kinds of prescription drugs recreationally...

(CBS) Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.

The deputies said they smelled marijuana and searched the car, Amormino said. They found less than an ounce of marijuana along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall, which is used for attention deficit disorder, he said.

"He does not have a prescription for any of those drugs," Amormino said.

Gore was being held in the men's central jail in Santa Ana on $20,000 bail.

Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for his parents, did not immediately return phone messages to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The son of the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee also was pulled over and arrested for pot possession in December 2003, in Bethesda, Md., while he was a student at Harvard University.

He completed substance abuse counseling as part of a pretrial diversion program to settle those charges.

The youngest of Al and Tipper Gore's four children and their only son, Gore lives in Los Angeles and is an associate publisher of GOOD, a magazine about philanthropy aimed at young people.

HAHAHHA!!!

i bet my doc will renew my medical marijuana card next week when i go...

you guys wouldnt even believe how it is here in nor cal, lets just say that i have about 10 places to buy herb within 10 miles and about 40 places within 20 miles..

when my buddy turned 18 he couldnt buy a beer but he could go do bong hits and buy pot at the clubs..

gretavo's picture

hmmmm

not sure how wise it is to joke like that... the problem with bad laws is precisely that they lead people to disregard laws generally, which isn't always a good thing... of course the bottom line remains that marijuana is much less harmful than so many things, including prescription drugs, that are perfectly legal and in fact marketed to kids...

inside's picture

no one has ever died from smoking pot!

pot is legal in ca if you have a note from your doc. i wasnt really making a joke just showing how different it is here compared to other places in the states...

http://www.oaksterdamnews.com/

im not breaking any laws in my state.

gretavo's picture

sure, but

the arguments people make against CA's pot clubs tend to be about how they facilitate abuse of a system intended for sick people. I for one of course support anyone who feels that pot improves their life should be free to procure it (or grow it themselves)--didn't mean to imply that YOU were abusing the system, just taking issue with the tone of your statement that could be used by enemies of the system you're extolling the virtues (rightly) of...

What a joke!

'Weed' makes you anything but psychotic. A 'friend' of mine has been smoking weed for over twenty years & firmly believes it's helped keep him sane through these insane times. As you pointed out, J, you can rank this 'study' right up there with most government controlled studies i.e., the NIST or FEMA reports.

How sane is it to make a statement of fact only to discredit your statement in your own study?

Jpass's picture

I know a 'friend' who also smokes pot

And he is the smartest guy I know. Seriously, he's the most politically aware, the most historically aware, the most motivated person I know. He's the only one I know trying to pursue his own business, the only one who has taught himself how to play the guitar and taught himself how to control his voice for singing.

But I guess we are all preaching to the quire here.

The question is:

"Why is it illegal?"

and the other question is...

"How do we deal with our out of control & criminal government that has basically initiated a war against it's own citizens?"

And I'm not talking about only pot. Mainly, all of our own pet project, 9/11 Truth. Blatant lies and disinformation being paraded as truth in regards to 9/11, marijuana, the war on terror, iraq, iran...

I'm mean seriously....these nut cases are talking about starting war with Iran.

Big_D's picture

Yes, Jpass...

Nearly everyone I know who smokes weed owns their own business & make good a living. I do & have known a few 'losers' who smoke weed, but guess what? It's not the weed that makes them dysfunctional it's alcoholism...

Hell, years ago I was a supervisor in a warehouse & the best employees were POT SMOKERS! The worst, most useless employees were, you guessed it, alcoholics or frequent drinkers. And don't even get me started on those employees who were on 'psyche' meds...

Actually there are many independent studies that confirm exactly what I just said, but you won't see them on faux news.
