Nice article! I had always thought that the mortgage crisis was the result of undeterred greed running its course. This article sort of gives some credence to the other school of thought that the crisis was engineered. Sort of a mihop vs lihop.
subprime is only about 1.5 trillion
This 'crisis' was definitely engineered. Subprime is the tip of the ice-berg -- credit default swaps are more important. When the dust clears, I'm guessing JPMorgan Chase (and other prime owners of the Fed Res) will own all the other banks. And where did the bailout money go? Why isn't the Treasury acting transparently? What have they got to hide? Who is benefiting the most from this crisis?
Notice also the artificially low price for oil - $33/barrel is simultaneously killing Russia and OPEC. Hmmmm, who might want to render those two groups impotent?
Who made money on the 9/11 short-sales? Who made money short-selling the British pound prior to 7/7? Who's making money on the new, post-Afghan-invasion opium sales? And someone's screwing with the dollar - artificially propping it up for the time being. Will likely make a killing when they decide to make it fall, it's only a matter of time, given how much is being printed.
