A shaggy-haired Jesse Ventura gave a rousing speech to an extremely enthusiastic audience at Ron Paul's Rally for the Republic today in Minnesota. The following video was shot sometime before he took the stage.

I was caught a little off guard and didn't have an opportunity to try and set up capture of the video stream. Live coverage is provided by the campaign for Liberty and freedom.tv here:

Jesse railed against the faux two-party system that actively and criminally undermines third-party candidates from getting the level of national exposure sufficient to challenge their protected system. The former Minnesota governor railed against the assault on individual liberties being waged by both parties in collusion with one another. He stressed the importance of the Second Amnedment Right to keep and bear arms as a means of defense against our own government and decried the empty rhetoric often used by politicians who claim to be protecting the Right of Americans possess firearms for the purpose of hunting. But, Ventura received a near deafening and favorable response when he called for a new investigation into 9/11. The feed was interupted briefly after Ventura began to discuss his understanding of explosive demolition acquired when he was a member of a Navy SEAL underwater demolition team.

Ventura closed his speech with a promise that, if he sees evidence of REAL ACTION on the part of Americans during the next 2-3 years, he will re-enter the political ring and participate in a Revolution by offering to run as an independent candidate for President of the United States. The crowd loved it.

Ventura's speech and the crowd's reaction, especially to his 9/11 portion, was great fun. I'm sure that it wasn't lost on Ron Paul's campaign staff, though I'm not holding my breath waiting for the Congressman to alter his position. At least Paul still refuses to endorse McInsane. For that alone, I hold Ron Paul high regard. I'll be looking for a video of Ventura's speech to post as I'm sure there will be one available soon.

hmmmm... ok, I guess...

I know he's dancing around the issue but still, focusing on why bin Laden hasn't been charged leaves open the possible interpretation that this is just some procedural issue. But yes, I know that he talks about demolitions elsewhere, and that the audience seems to know exactly what he's really talking about. Kudos to Ron Paul and Jesse. Maybe, just maybe, they really are just being super careful for some reason. But this is undeniably a good sign. :)

Labash says,“I decide to

Labash says,“I decide to bait Ventura.”

Weekly Standard’s Matt Labash “punk’d” Tucker Carlson

Last Tuesday Matt Labash, senior writer at William Kristol’s “The Weekly Standard” was backstage at the Target Center during “The Rally For The Republic” hanging out in Matt’s words,” [with] my friend and former WEEKLY STANDARD colleague, MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson.”

While Labash mingles in neocon free surroundings he sees Jesse Ventura backstage waiting for his turn to speek, “holding court in jeans and a Navy SEAL T-shirt.” Matt Labash whose magazines official position on 9/11supports the “government story” decides to stir up some trouble for the Ron Paul rEVOLution.

In his latest article “Among the Paultards” Labash says,“I decide to bait Ventura.” He would tell Jesse how disappointed many in the crowd were that their viewpoints on 9/11 are being ignored. Matt continued the 9/11 related barrage with more questions about demolitions and explosives, feigning interest in Ventura’s replies the trap was set.

Jesse subsequently went on stage and ask a couple questions about the 9/11 official story in violation of his agreement with the Republican rally organizers. The crowd goes crazy with applause!

Meanwhile back stage with Tucker who could not hear Ventura’s speech Matt Labash readily informs Tucker saying, “Ventura got off his leash.” This news spooks Tucker but the final straw is when some, “grubby indie media types” start asking him questions about the Controlled Demolition Hypothesis. Tucker says, “This is crazy. I’ve got to get out of here. Let’s go get dinner.”
