Here a French "peloton de vérité" (truth squad) gets Christine Boutin, minister in the new Sarkozy government, to admit that there might be something to the assertion that Bush was behind 9/11. Basically, she says that the websites that discuss the theories get so many hits that she has to ask herself if it is possible. ReOpen911.info have gotten some flak for cutting the video off where they did, evidently right before she says that she personally does not "believe" it.

Let me clarify...
It sounds like she was saying she was aware that many people thought it was possible that Bush (sic) was behind 9/11, but that she herself did not "believe" it.

Isn't there a word missing there? or am I misunderstanding the word peut?
Her answer, "Je pense que c'est possible" depends on what the question was...

"Est-ce que tu penses que Bush peut etre l'origine..."
So could Bush be the source. And she says that she thinks it it possible, but later that she doesn't "believe" that it is so. (I haven't seen a version with this bit included.)

What I hear sounds like the two words are run together (peut-re) which jibes with my experience of the "how they really talk" portions of the cd that comes with the French textbook. If you listen again, just try to hear that hint of "rrrrr" and the little hiccup that precedes it.
It certainly isn't anything more complex like "peut faire" or "peut masterminder."
Edit: I forgot that the next part is "l'origine" so a more complex utterance would be something like "peut connaitre."
