Obama Supporters Get Truthed

Jpass's picture

Had a very short lived but empowering experience at UNC in Asheville today. Michelle Obama was giving a 'speech' today. Luckily my ratty "Re-Investigate 9/11/2001" sign was still neatly folded under-neath my couch.

So we arrived on campus and easily snuck up to the front of the 'rally' and got a position almost kind of directly behind the podium on a wall that was being used by some nice Obama supporters.

So I hopped up on the wall and busted out my sign. It was short lived but I was able to hold my sign in front of all these people while the pledge of allegiance and a long prayer were going on.

Next, I noticed a well dressed Obama 'authority' woman walking up. She asked:

"Is that sign ok'ed by The Campaign" and I said no. She demanded I stand down and I said "is it illegal?" and she said "No". So I told her I would remain standing there with my sign. She went and got another 'obama authority' and this woman did the same thing. She said "they will not allow signs on campus right now".

"who is they? The police?" I said.

"No, the people I work for". I said, "who is that?" She left and got a guy to come over and ask me to dismantle my sign because signs (even obama signs) were not allowed. I was not being combative but I was questioning these peoples authority. They were obviously flustered. At one point I pointed to the HUGE Obama banner and said "What about that sign?".

The Obama guy pleaded with me and I asked him if he saw my message. He did. I asked if he thought it was strange that I wasn't allowed to hold this sign. I stepped down because there really were no signs being held up.

So I went into the crowd with my folded sign. The Obama guy was following me around. I decided to post up next to this nice cop-lady and started talking to her. She said "I agree with your sign".

The Obama Guy was still trailing me so I said "are you following me around?" He demanded that I give him my sign and I laughed at him and told him he wasn't taking my trusty "Re-Investigate 9/11/2001" sign. He said "Well that guy is going to follow you" and pointed to a beefy policeman. I was already talking to the woman cop as this guy approached and they said nothing.

I decided to walk and get some food and my roomate and his friend who is staying with us approached. The friend is working for the Obama campaign and was trying to explain that 'all signs' were not allowed. It was kind of weird because my roomate and new friend the Obama campaigner were nervous about a loud 'incident'. I wonder what they envisioned? Anyhow, I don't roll like that. Bull-horning sucks and annoys people.

So i went and ate and came back to a sea of "Yes We Can" signs.

The best part was that when these people were demanding that I get down and put away my sign, it caused a stir and possibly almost everyone was looking at me and my sign. Well, that was cool but also holding a sign during the pledge of allegiance and a prayer were equally cool.

Damn man...

I can see the photos if I use Firefux. Flick and Opera don't seem to get along so well.

Good job!

Had you given me a little advanced noticed, I would have snagged a videocam and come over (70 miles) to record the event. Maybe you would have pulled out the big banner? I don't know if you were alone but, another guy (6', 185# of man) who knows his UNALIENABLE Rights and they might not have been so arrogant in their attempt to infringe upon yours.

WTF? Did Michelle Obama rent out UNC-A for the day? What a load of crap. I don't cotton to no "free speech zones". Nor will I tolerate no-speech zones on a federally funded college campus during an open, public event. Especially if they are designated by some minion(s) of a CFR lackey-dog, from Chitown.

That was the question...

In retrospect, I ask myself whether I should have remained on the wall and ignored the Democrat employees. A friend who works for the campaign is staying with us for a few weeks and, apparently, my short action got quite a response from those working the event.

The democrat employees were pretty nervous about approaching me. Just simple questions to them made them even more nervous. So I have to give them credit. At least they weren't comfortable abusing their alleged power during the event.

These 'rally' type events are fairly small and the local news is pretty hopped up when a celbrity comes rolling through town in a SUV motorcade. I'll let you know when something is going on and we can bring the big sign.

Clinton calls for gas tax vote, Obama calls it 'shell' game

By DAVID ESPO

MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton called for a vote Friday in the Democratic-controlled Congress on a summertime suspension of the federal gasoline tax, a plan that Barack Obama dismissed as a political stunt that would cost thousands of construction jobs.

"It's a Shell game. Literally," Obama said to laughter from his campaign audience, adding it would mean little for hard-pressed consumers.

rock on, jpass!

I got a great thumbs up from a lady stopped for a red light while i waited for the bus--it's now official, I get more overt "thumbs ups" in public than "fuck yous". the other day i left work quite tipsy from a reception and chatted up the tibetans who have been protesting daily in harvard square since the olympic torch began its journey. they don't speak much english but they could understand what the sign meant and happily took DVDs.

anyway, great job--keep posting these, it's very inspiring to know more of us are out there all the time. btw, i can see most of the pics but for some reason some don't show up, just empty black space... i could see most tho...

RE-INVESTIGATE 9/11

May well be better as a slogan than 9/11 TRUTH NOW... Truth Now is a little sanctimonious, although it has served a purpose, namely of associating our movement with the TRUTH meme. But maybe it IS time to adjust and go with the more inviting RE-INVESTIGATE. Now, how do people feel about RE-INVESTIGATE versus plain old INVESTIGATE? I guess RE-INVESTIGATE pre-empts people objecting on the silly grounds that "it has already been investigated!" RE-INVESTIGATE implies that it was improperly investiagted before, eh?

I suggest

Real-Investigate 9/11, implying that the first one wasnt.

ps good effort Jpass!Â
