Why They Despise Us

“The principal reason for our repeated failure to make any progress in dealing with the Likud government of Israel is that we persist in the mistaken view that the Likud leaders are our friends. The truth is they despise us for our weakness and gullibility, our political cowardice, our pathetic eagerness to please and placate them, and our dread of offending them.

“This contempt, as we have said before, is richly deserved. The Likud leaders know that our presidents [with the exception of John F. Kennedy] have always been in mortal fear of the Israeli Lobby. The most important concern in the minds of many of our Congressmen and Senators is ‘unemployment’—their own. They live in perpetual fear of offending Israel and receiving the dreaded call from AIPAC saying ominously, ‘you’ll never work in this town again.’

“The statement of the U.S. envoy quoted above (1) that ‘they (the Israelis) are rubbing our noses in it’ should make any American cringe. How is it possible (even anatomically) ‘to stand tall’ while ‘having our noses rubbed in it’?

“Saddam Hussein defied and threatened us, but he never attempted to insult or humiliate the U.S. or our Secretary of State. The Gulf War proved Saddam Hussein to be a paper tiger. If the U.S. fails to stop the West Bank settlements, the Likud will have proved that the U.S. is a paper superpower.”

How about telling the Truth and saying no to any further mass murder just this once, for G-d’s sake! How many times do our cities, our troops, our citizens, and our real political leaders have to be attacked, intimidated, and assassinated by operatives working for the government of this little illegitimate rogue terrorist nation before we all (including the pawn-like “Jewish people”) wake up and say No More! Never Again! What will it take, another 9/11 (their 7th attack, btw), or much worse? How much rope will G-d give them?

(1) Regarding U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s May 1991 visit to Israel for a third round of peace talks and negotiations, a U.S. envoy remarked at the time: “Rubbing our noses in it by building a settlement overnight isn’t the smart way to go.” The night before Secretary of State Baker arrived in Israel, with the illegal West Bank settlement issue high on his priority list of talking points, the Israeli government supplied 14 jumbo-size mobile homes to settlers of the fanatical Gush Emunim sect who then, overnight, used the trailers to occupy a swath of Palestinian land near the West Bank city of Nablus. This is the settlement now known as Revava (Hurley, p. 285).
