I've had the same experience. In fact, one of the main reasons I have continued to pursue studies into Zionism is precisely because of this fact. When you are simply discussing 9/11 and Zionists come up to you to give you a hard time and accuse you of saying things you never said, it makes you wonder what on earth is going on.

I wonder no longer. Shakespeare sumemd it up well enough with the phrase "Methinks they do protest too much" (I'm sure I'm paraphrasing). By their overzealous defensiveness they reveal their true fears. You don't, for example, see Saudis or Pakistanis going around accusing truthers of trying to pin anything on them.

Also, anyone who has been paying attention knows that anything and everything that Zionists are found to be doing wrong is routinely denied or downplayed--Israeli diplomats will deny all charges of spying until they can't do so credibly, at which point the excuse changes. Jonathan Pollard, Larry Franklin, etc. The attack on the USS Liberty was a "tragic accident". The dancing Israelis were simply documenting the events. The art student spy ring did not exist. There is no organized Israel lobby as described by Profs. Walt and Mearsheimer. Norman Finkelstein is a self-hater who lies about Dershowitz's plagiarism. The list goes on and on.

The phrase that comes to mind is "admit nothing, deny everything, and make counter-accusations." Point out any of these things, let alone the entire set as a pattern of behavior and the accusations fly. Anyone who dares break the code of making the person speaking up a pariah finds nasty emails from their erstwhile "friends" in their inbox. When the heat is turned up enough that people start reacting by standing up to the pressure suddenly there are apologies and calls for unity.

Anyone who reacts to all of this in the natural way, that is to say anyone who is offended and feels their intelligence insulted by these methods and refuses to budge without acknowledgement of the problem can be safely written off as an EXTREME anti-semite. Reconciliation on their terms or you are a terrorist--I'm sure any Palestinian would sympathize.

Now, now, these are all real issues but you see it's just that clever, insidious, and shadowy New World Order cult at work making it SEEM like Zionists are calling the shots--see? Those evil anglo-saxons like Bush just use the poor Zionists as classic Jewish scapegoats see?
